The hotdog represents Botticelli’s ‘The Birth of Venus’ (1480’s) depicting the goddess Venus. It was controversial for its time because it depicted a large-scale, pagan, nude goddess in a secular context, challenging dominant Christian artistic norms where nudity usually signified sin or humiliation, rather than divine beauty or Neoplatonic spiritual ideals. The hotdog is also symbolic of Abstract Picnic member & Creative Director of this mural, JESHAKA. Her artwork uses hotdogs to share learned wisdoms & challenge ideas of the reality we perceive.
